Bon Jovi

So in case you haven't heard, Bon Jovi saved somebody from suicide in Nashville Tennessee. Although it was a lovely act and I won't take anything away from it, I do feel it was also a publicity stunt and considering his best-known single is Livin on a Prayer, it seemed like an opportunity for him to live up to the song's name. This situation made the news, and it made the news not for the action itself I feel, but more because of the trendiness of living up to that one overplayed song. Were it anybody else the news wouldn't care and it certainly wouldn't be on BBC News. Star power can make any news story. Prince George could wear a bunny suit and the media will swarm all over it.

It’s definitely an interesting perspective. Bon Jovi’s act of saving someone’s life is undeniably commendable, but you’re right that celebrity actions often get more attention than if someone less famous had done the same thing. It’s hard to ignore the role of star power in how news stories are covered. Sometimes, the media’s focus on the celebrity aspect can overshadow the act itself. It’s a bit of a double-edged sword—while the visibility might help draw attention to important issues, it can also feel like it shifts the focus away from the real story.
This angel created the best song in history.
