Personal statement for St Andrews + Edinburgh

My plan A is Oxford materials science and my current plan B is Edinburgh or St Andrews for chemical physics. However, I love maths and have seen that both St Andrews and Edinburgh offer mathematical physics. My personal statement is written for materials science and chemical physics and I don’t want to change from materials science at Oxford. Since tweaking my statement to suit both mathematical physics and matsci seems near impossible, I was wondering how much St Andrews and Edinburgh actually care about it? Or maybe you have tips to alter my PS?

Thanks

why would you not want to do physics at oxford? sorry if thats a bit blunt, but you seem okay applying for mathematical physics at edinburgh and st andrews? physics at oxford does not hold back in the maths that it teaches you, and you can switch onto the mathematical and theoretical physics Masters course at the end of third year (Graduating with a BA in physics and MMathPhys).

I haven’t done further maths unfortunately. Edinburgh and St Andrews don’t require further maths as they have an additional year.

ahh i see, that does change things!! the course at oxford does accomodate for those that haven't done further maths, however most people that get in will have done further maths. that being said, the entrance exam and interview does not assume further maths content...
