Walk into local firms with a covering letter (detailing why you want to do work experience there, what makes you suitable, etc.) and your CV. There are also a very small but not insignificant number of firms (mainly in London) and one or two chambers that offer work experience. You need to apply for these through their websites, look them up on Google. These are very competitive, but probably your best bet if you've got no family/personal connections to the legal field. For context, I did this and ended up sending over 20 applications (including walking into almost all my local high street firms during a half term). I got two work experience placements (one chambers and one local law firm), but two was more than enough for me and it was 100% worth the effort.

You dont need work experience for a Law degree - and watching someone else do the photocopying wont make any difference to your chances of a University offer. Don't bother.

More useful would be listening to some of these BBC podcasts about current Law issues - useful for your PS :
BBC Radio 4 - The Law Show - Available now
