Cambridge vet school

I'm planning on applying to vet school this october but im unsure whether to apply to cambridge due to the academia and research as i want a more practical course. is cambridge mostly research or do you do practical stuff early on in the course?

There is no more research at Cambridge than any other vet med course and it has been hands on from the start for my daughter. You do have to intercalate and many people pick Zoology for that which does have a research project option (not compulsory).
There is no escaping the academia at Cambridge - that is a given - so if delving deep is not for you then Cambridge might not be the best choice.

I have heard that a lot of the assessments at Cambridge are essay based, so make sure you enjoy writing essays and academia if you'd like to study there

most of what i heard is from Dr May Yean on YT and IG, you should check her out, her videos interviewing students from the different vet schools are very useful for deciding where you want to apply
And also her cambridge vet student videos show you a bit of what it’s like there

The terms are short so the workload can be intense. There is no Wednesday afternoon off for sports and social, and you can end up in tutorials in the evening or at a weekend sometimes. In return you get longer holidays which can help with fitting in all the EMS you have to do
