I just drink the tap water straight away?

I am an international student who will be coming over to study in the UK. I will be living in a student accomodation and amidst the excitement and fear, a question popped up in my head - How do I hydrate myself?

So yeah, it may come off as a bit of an odd question, but do I just pour the tap water into my cup and dig in? Is it safe? Does any sink work? I don't need to boil it or anything? It's very foreign to me and bit hard to take it.

you have to be a bit more careful in England though as they are known to have tap water that isn't always clean
Unless you see any visible discoluration, (which would be super rare), it's completely fine to drink straight from the tap in the UK.

I will be studying at Durham

There's no danger with drinking tap water anywhere in the UK to my knowledge.
The only exception would be drinking water from the hot tap in certain buildings where a water tank is used to store hot water.

it isn't 100% safe. it probably won't kill you, but they constantly find all sorts of toxins and other crap in it. by the time the local authorities warn you about it, it's usually too late
