Can I reapply to college to start in Y13?

Hello, I’m currently a Y12 student who just started in Xaverian. Two weeks in and I already hate it a lot. I don’t think there’s anything I can do to hate it less than I do but I don’t even know why. I tried to look at my other options, and the school I wanted to go to was Loreto.

I originally wanted to go to Loreto but for family reasons I had to miss my enrolment and I was too busy to email them about it. I contacted them and they told me they do not accept transfers. Loreto is my only other option, so would it be possible for me to apply next year to start in Y13 instead of having to do it all over again if I continue to hate Xaverian?

Surely it would be better to put up with Xaverian for one more year rather than redo the whole two years of A level? Soon you’ll be in uni and it won’t matter much anyway. It might be easier to work out what you don’t like about it. As you’ve only been there for two weeks it might get better once you’ve figured out a routine, made new friends etc. When I started college I regretted my choice too, came home crying every night, what helped was making new friends, getting used to the area and finding places to spend my free periods off campus, getting used to using a new bus route, getting back into a study routine etc. If you don’t like your courses you could always change those?

Honestly i doubt they would except you because i just started and they told us all that you can only repeat y13 in very exceptional circumstances

Yeah I’m really keeping that as a last resort in case I still hate it by the end of Y12.

I relate completely to how you felt! Even before I started I already had a gut feeling that I wouldn’t like it but my parents told me to ignore it. The only reason I ended up going was because of my two best friends (horrible decision making, I know). The problem is everyone already seems to be in big friend groups and they don’t seem interested in making new friends. I’ll still give it a try though, maybe if I join a few clubs. Thanks for the advice!

Honestly I found that making friends took quite a while. I didn’t join any clubs but I tried to talk to people in my classes. I’m not naturally a likeable/popular person and went through secondary with only one friend so I wanted to try something different at college. My best friend went to the same college as me and we introduced each other to people and so we ended up making a group of friends. It takes a while for people to settle in and eventually the big groups split up and mix around a bit. Joining some clubs will probably help! Wishing you the best of luck!

I didn't transfer, I just ended up accepting it. I didn't necessarily end up making friends but there are a few people I can talk to and honestly starting a whole at new college with new teachers and a different routine in y13 seems rough. I think it's better to give your college a chance and look for the positives. In the end, I just spend all my free time studying. What college do you got to?

Nope, stayed in Xaverian. It grew on me eventually, I think I was just envious of people who had a bunch of friends and thought it'd be better to go to Loreto since I know more people there. But now I'm in y13 I don't really care anymore, plus I have people to hang out with occasionally. Having barely any friends gives me a lot of time to revise

don't know who you are ofc but I'm also yr13 at xavs, glad it worked out for you and tbh I've not made loads of friends either but I've kept in touch with people from high school also at xavs and the amount of arguments/fallouts/drama has been is crazy and stressful (from the serious mental health to the criminal to the people just being pricks) I'd say you got lucky having people to hang with and time to revise, hope your mocks went well!
