You will study 4 units over 2 years, Units 1,2 and 3 are the Mandatory ones and you will do one further Optional unit (see specification at link below). Units 1 and 3 are Exams and they are sat in January or May (your centre will decide which one and let you know, probably do one each year). The other two units are coursework and each will contain a number of assignments. https://qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/BTEC-Nationals/Applied-Science/2016/specification-and-sample-assessments/BTEC-L3-Nat-ExtCert-in-Applied-Science-Spec.pdf

I don't think any will take you with that combination as you won't cover sufficient Science units.

if you are doing Applied science the extended diploma then yess. it is equivalent to 3 a level and therefore you would sit exams. Depends on your school there are mandotaotry units which some are exams and some are not and voluntary units that your school specifically picks. in the first year you sit unit 3 ( which includes bio, chem and physics and you will basically carry out practicals, plan out the methods used and analyse the data) this exam is worth 120 credits if i remember it well. the next exam unit is unit 1. again all three science subjects. this is more difficult. you will learn in detail about cells structure, for chemistry the periodic table and waves for physics. Then the second year. you will do unit 7 sat in january similar to unit 3. In unit 7 you basically analyse articles that talk about contemporary issues in science and 6hr supervised exam where you take notes and 2hrs answering questions. for unit 7 it's similar to english lang exam. Then unit 5 sat in may. This unit is the second part of unit 1 but again goes further into detail. Honestly if you put into effort and studh well you can easily do great. Also remember the higher the credits of the units are and the higher score you get , the more UCAS points/ grades you will. D is equal to 56 points Same grading as A level ( A*--- D*) But yeah i hope this helps.
