Is there any point to applying for a course higher than my grades?

hi! i did my alevels in 2023 and got A*AA (maths, further maths & chem) and went to uom to study maths this past yr before dropping out in march. i am currently looking to reapply for computer science starting next september (2025).

since i already have my grades i was wondering if there's any chance for any flexibility in the unis requesting A*A*A to get on the course or if it's just a wasted choice for a university?

if this is useful info i am currently doing an "access to HE: computing" course as well to fill up this current year !!

thank u so much for the help

The entry requirements that a universities wants are just bs to begin with they do it for the sake of doing it and if you are close to the entry requirements they set then you are good to go and there is no need to worry. Go to the open days and tell them you wanna apply but I won't be able to meet the entry but I have this grade will I be able to get in. I know countless of people that got in uni without meeting the entry requirements but they were close

One choice just above your grades is worth the risk - just be prepared for No.
Unis will be cautious because with achieved grades there is obviously no chance of your 'improving' predicted grades in August. Make sure your other choices are more realistic, and you will still need a sensible 'below' Insurance choice.
