Disadvantaging to apply to multiple Scottish unis?

Would it disadvantage me to apply to both Glasgow and Edinburgh as a non Scottish student? I understand that they have a certain number of places each year reserved for Scottish students and that the rest of the UK gets the rest of the domestic student places, so would this give me less of a chance overall? For context I am applying to vet med which I know is already extremely competitive.

You would be taking an ENORMOUS risk. I can not stress this enough!! Vet med is a hard course to get into despite the new schools that have opened up over the last couple of years. Post COVID work experience requirements have been drastically reduced so although there are more schools there are also more applicants as they no longer have to decide their future career in year 10 or 11.
The vast majority of places at Glasgow and Edinburgh go to Scottish and International students. The remaining go to RUK which means England, Wales, Ireland and any British student resident in Europe.
I understand why you like the 2 Scottish institution, and yes those RUK places have to go to someone, so why not you? But I really would advise only applying to one of the two. You only get 4 choices for vet med. Many students have to do 2 or even 3 application rounds just to get one place offered ( despite 4A* grades and loads of wex) so I would be cautious and maximise your chances by keeping 3 UK applications and just one Scottish. But at the end of the day it’s your choice, but be aware….
