Should I take a masters in sociology?

Hi. I am from Asia and I have a UK law degree with only 2:2. I am interested in sociology and having a career in research. However, most people don't recommend taking a MA in sociology. What master should I take instead to be able to continue Phd in future while gaining some marketable skills to keep my career options open? Any advice on anything would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you wish to undertake a career in research, i would suggest a social research based MSc or similar, i have recently completed an MSc in policy research - but depending on the area - anything with core research skills is what you may wish to look into.

Thanks for the advice! How was your experience in policy research?

I loved it! I am about to undertake a PhD now, but it would also have been a great course to enter a research career, so i had all bases covered incase i didn't get funding for the PhD.
