GCSEs in Year 9 - English Language resources?

I've been home educated all my life and so have more choice over what subjects I take and when I take them. My family and I have decided that I'll take eight or nine GCSEs over three years, starting now, in Year 9. I've just started studying for Food Preparation and Nutrition, English Language and Sociology, of which the first two have exams next summer. I'm not too worried about the Food Prep because I've got full marks on all my homework so far and grasp the concepts well, plus it's meant to be one of the easiest courses. English, though, I'm not so sure about.

My mum seems to think that I'm some sort of English prodigy, and could "easily pass with a decent mark" if I were to sit my exams right now. Her basis for this is pretty much that I learnt to read fluently quite young and spelled "why" correctly aged three. In actual fact, while I have good spelling and grammar and a decent vocabulary, I actually suck when it comes to writing structured texts and articles, especially if they're on a topic I have no interest in. She also thinks that English Language is a really easy exam because she excelled in it and passed without studying, when most of the internet agrees that it isn't.

Now, my mum definitely means well and I believe that if I study enough I should be able to pass with a 4 or 5, BUT ideally I want to achieve great marks on all of my GCSEs to improve future (university) prospects, and for English want at least a 7. At the moment, I'm not being assigned enough English work becuase my mum is so confident that I will pass. I'm literally getting 1-2 hours a week, sometimes even less. Since this is basically the equivalent of the classes I would be in at school, I feel like I also need to do some study outside of this if I want to get anywhere near a 7, so I'm looking for some recommendations for useful resources (preferably free) to improve my mark, as well as just any advice for studying.

Thank you!

I found Seneca useful revising for English GCSE, so it may be worth having a look at that, but the best thing you can do is practice questions.

Won't you need to look at iGCSEs so you don't have coursework or, for English, speaking ?

Which spec are you doing? I'm mostly familiar with Edexcel IGCSE Spec B so I can give you a few YouTube links for that one, but if you're doing A or Cambridge then you'll have the anthology to contend with.
