Session recordings and exams query

Hello,
I had a couple of questions.
Many Unis have sessions held during term time recorded which can be watched in case a student misses any classes due to some reason
Could you pleasetell me if Exeter has that as well?

Also, I saw in the schedule that exams for UG start on 6th January 2025 but heard from some people that these could be taken online for certain courses.
My so
Does that apply to BSc Finance
as well?
Checking because we need to book international tickets for Term 2 and currently looking at best fare options and your reply would be appreciated for planning accordingly. Fares are crazy the weekend before January 6th :frown:

Hello, are you a first year student?

I would say that this can vary depending on your department and the modules you are doing. Typically content is recorded for people to catch up on afterwards, but there may well be exceptions to this. I would anticipate this is the kind of information that will be shared with you in your Academic inductions and initial lectures at the start of the Academic year.

With regards to the format of exams this will be dependant on both the course and modules you are taking. The course leader will likely dictate whether it is an in person or online exam. Your best bet would be to ask your department directly as they will be best placed to know whether it will be in person or not.

Contact details for all the Hubs can be found here: Locations and contacts | Student hubs | University of Exeter As you are in our Business School the following details are likely to be the best starting point if you have not already had this information shared in the induction or first lectures of the year: [email protected], +44 (0)1392 722 660

I hope this helps you to get the answers you need!

Hi Madso,

Just to add to what Melody has said, in my experience most of the lectures are recorded, but of course there are exceptions so it isn't a guarantee. However, if you cannot attend a lecture for whatever reason you can email the lecturer and they may be able to provide a previous recording of the lecture (as many of the lectures were recorded during COVID). Equally, the lecture slides are almost always available online, so it's definitely possible to catch up on missed lectures and ensure that you don't feel behind.

Seminars on the other hand are not recorded, as they are based around student interaction and more closely resemble a classroom format, so if you miss a seminar the best thing to do is email your seminar leader to see how they would like you to catch up on this, as well as asking someone else in the seminar to catch you up or provide notes.

The format of the exam is also something that you would find out at the beginning of term, when your lecturers inform you of how assessments run for the module. However, it's definitely worth contacting your Hub (https://www.exeter.ac.uk/students/infopoints/contact/) as Melody mentioned, to see if you can find out more.

I hope that helps and let us know if you have any further questions!
