What's happening with the Sheffield Postgraduate Scholarship (for Home students)?

I'm currently working on applying to Masters courses and when I first started looking a year ago I saw that Sheffield had a Postgraduate Scholarship of £10,000 for home students (for the 24/25 academic year). Looking online it seems this has run for a few years or at least a few times but I can't see anything about funding opportunities for home students on the University of Sheffield website for the 25/26 academic year. Instead the postgraduate scholarships page is all aimed at international students. Have they stopped the scholarship for home students? Or have I missed where the information is now?

I was looking for the same thing. Seems like they might have stopped it, such a shame, I was planning on applying to Sheffield for my MSc!

Hi did you find out?

No, just kinda decided not to apply there at this rate tbh
Hi,

I am a current MA student at The University of Sheffield, I applied for a postgraduate home fee student scholarship last year in preparation for this year (academic year 2024/25). I did find the information on the website was slightly limited this early on and more information was published later into the year.

When I applied, I began writing my application around February 2024 and did not submit until the end of March. Therefore, I would not panic yet, or rule it out, as I would expect more information will be published later into the academic year.

I hope this helped in some way but feel free to ask me any further questions🙂

If I'm interested in the scholarship - will sending in an application for a course before the scholarship is potentially announced have any impact on the chances of getting it? As in, is it an additional part of the application process?

Hi,

So, the MA applications and the scholarship applications are separate, so you can apply for the course before the scholarship. If you then received an offer onto the course but did not get the scholarship/is not one available anymore then you can simply decline your university offer.

The scholarship application and the MA course applications are reviewed at different times, separate from each other, typically by different people.

I hope this helped, feel free to send through any additional queries💓

Hi Olivia, I am planning on applying for an MSc course and would like to know if there is any update on the Sheffield Postgraduate Scholarship of £10,000 for home students for academic year 2025/26?

Unfortunately, there are no updates on the scholarship, however there are other funds that you can have a look at for eligibility on the website.

https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/funding - Here is a page where the university shows where you can access different types of scholarship for postgrad funding.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have anymore questions!
