Accomodation and Council Tax

Hey,
Wanted to ask about how council tax on a flat works? My flatmate and I have lived together the past year and have renewed the contract for the 24/25 year too. I am currently going into my third year whilst my flatmate is no longer a student due to failing to go to her exams for her first year retakes (she has done first year twice and i don't think she is allowed to redo again). We were both students in the 23/24 year so no council tax was applied.

My friend told me that the council will know that she is no longer a student and that our flat will now have council tax applied to it, and its concerning me a little bit. Do I get charged for council tax too or does it all get charged to the non-student's contract?

I am a bit stressed about this all especially because uni starts in a few days. Would appreciate some advice/info if u know anything abt this

Full-time students are exempt from council tax.

So, from a council tax point of view, your friend is the only person liable to pay. She can get a single-person discount of 25%, since she is the only person there.

You ask "does it all get charged to the non-student's contract" -- does your accommodation contract say anything about council tax? Normally I'd expect that that would be paid directly to the council by the occupiers, assuming they're liable to pay it.
