unsure about predicted grade

does anyone know if you need a predicted grade if you're doing an A-level as a private candidate. I'm doing A-level maths without a tutor and have had no response from my previous sixth form if they need me to provide a predicted grade. I don't want this to affect my university application as I want to apply to prestigious universities and don't want to get rejected because I don't have a predicted grade.

You'll likely need to find somebody who knows you academically, to write you a reference (including a predicted grade). An application without a reference doesn't look the best

I'll have a reference from my old sixth form teachers since the college will be dealing with my application. I'm just not sure
if they'll give me a predicted grade from my GCSE grades or if they don't have to give me one to apply

Hey, I am in the same situation as you! Also retaking maths his year. I'd say email any university admissions teams of the unis you may have in mind to ask if they need a predicted grade. For me, Bath said they couldn't consider my application without a predicted grade so I am currently looking for tutors who will give me a grade and reference. Other unis may not care if you don't.
