i’m an international student going to study at university of nottingham. however the ukvi said my visa would come out late. what can i do to speed up the process? or would the university be able to give me an extension on the start date? all in all what’s gonna happen?

I recommend that you contact the visa team at Nottingham to tell them that your visa is going to be late, and see what they say.
I would imagine there will be a bit of flexibility around the start date if your visa is issued late -- I'm sure this happens to a lot of international students every year.
