applying to Cambridge medicine

Hi , I’ve recently gotten the idea to apply to Cambridge medicine but I don’t know if my stats are good enough
- GCSES: 9999976 (resit)
-A LEVELS: A*A*A*A*
UCAT : not yet
Work experience: pharmacy (2months ) hospital (3 weeks ) shadowed a surgeon , volunteered in hospitals in Syria
Extracurricular: taking part in the uk chemistry Olympiad, started my own charity related to medicine with a documentary , wrote an article on a medical related topic, doing the CREST award program.
However I had to resit my GCSES since I am a young carer and didn’t do well in year 11 , I am also the first in my family to go university therefore I might be eligible for their contextual offers .
What do you guys think ?

Your alevel and gcse results are incredible and you extracurriculars are also really good but I expect most people applying for medicine at Cambridge will have similar scores. I don't study medicine and I haven't even started uni but from the hours of research I've done into finding good unis I know the deciding factor is usually a killer personal statement specially for oxford or Cambridge also I suggest posting this on the medicine forum you will get loads more responses and help good luck. 😊

Thank uuu , hmm idk how that’s done since I just started using this website 😭, I agree I feel like a good personal statement would definitely help but I am applying in 2025 and I heard UCAS is getting rid of personal statement and replacing them with questions.

Search medicine and the first search result will be the official thread for medicine entry 2025 😁

hello! i think you have a really great chance at cambridge and you should def apply  i wouldn’t worry about the gcse resits, cambridge def contextualises your results and i think your results are honestly so great for a young carer too along with your abundant extracurricular activities! another thing you can maybe look into to increase your chances at cambridge is to do a lot of extra reading as i heard that cambridge loves people who explore their subject deeply - find a topic within medicine that you enjoy and read about it a lot! i have total faith in you and am rooting for you  goodluck in your application! 💜
