My workplace has reported me to the internal safeguarding team. Could they tell the police?

What's your company policy on someone who has allegedly committed a criminal offence?

I don't know. I haven't been arrested and the police are not involved. What does a safeguarding team do?

I think the police are following it up as an open line of enquiry. What does that mean?

Exactly what it sounds like; the police are making enquiries to try and ascertain what happened.

So why haven't I been notified by the police? What does open line of enquiry mean?

Why would the police tell someone about an investigation, allowing them to potentially manipulate evidence and witnesses and come up with a cover story?

Open is as opposed to closed. But why are you worrying if you don't know if there's police involvement?

I know that my workplace has reported me to the police as an open line of enquiry whatever that means. My workplace are still carrying out an investigation

Open line of enquiry means there's an enquiry happening. When it stops, it's closed.

First you ask if they could tell the police and that they aren't involved, then you tell us you have already been reported to the police? We don't know what happened so we won't know what any action people will take or consider, and there's not much useful advice can be given when someone is changing their story.

In my original post I meant can the safeguarding team report me to the police and stop me from working in care roles etc or similar roles?

Again that's changing your question - but I'd have to assume the answer is yes.

The role of a safeguarding team varies according to the type of organisation for which the team works. The impact of an investigation on future employment will depend on the outcome of the investigation.

You would be better off consulting a lawyer with relevant experience than asking on the internet for advice about a safeguarding matter, especially when the police may be involved.

What does your company policy say about safeguarding?
I'm not 100 percent sure. All I know is 2 months ago when the incident occurred my workplace contacted the police and apparently the police 'are investigating the allegation as an open line of enquiry '.(I'm not supposed to know this). I have not heard anything from the police.

So don't you think you should have got yourself up to speed on procedures when you started the job, let alone now?
I have mostly. I just want to know what does 'as an open line of enquiry mean'?

I've told you that: Reply 8.
Ah ok. So I assume I'm not under investigation by the police. When the investigation is done by the hospital the police will close it even if the hospital find ne guilty.

Oh good grief. Why do you now think you're not under police investigation, then talk about the police closing the case? The latter may not happen if there's a criminal case to answer.
