Medicine unviersity options excluding chemistry

Hello,

I am a fresh year 12 student currently studying history, biology and psychology. i am aware that the majority of universities in the UK require you to have taken chemistry to apply for the medicine and surgery courses, however my school required i also took maths at A level to supplement A level chemistry and that was something I wasn't willing to do.

from doing some research I've noticed some medical schools such as Lancaster (which is also probably the closest university to me) only require two sciences from biology, psychology and chemistry fortunately for me, and was wondering if anyone knew of any other universities that may potentially accept me (assuming i achieve the grades necessary) with my chosen subjects, or offer an alternative such as a foundational year.

i think it will be difficult to get in without chemistry. i dont know where chemistry is optional or not required, but if i were you i'd try convince the school. i do a level chemistry and maths, and i definitely dont think one needs a level maths for chemistry. it'd be useful but it's only in like 1 or 2 niches in chemistry where it can be useful imo. though then again i just started year 13, so maybe i dont have the full picture. my school does not require maths with chem.

from what I can find, the main ones seem to be Kent&Medway, Lancaster, Newcastle, UEA, Buckingham (but it's a private uni), Keele, Leicester, Manchester, Sheffield, Plymouth, and Southampton, so there are quite a few
obviously do double check any you consider because you don't want to accidentally waste a choice on somewhere that won't even consider you!
Hello,

Great to hear you have been researching future options for a degree in Medicine! I'm a student at Lancaster and can highly recommend studying here. If you have any questions about the University feel free to ask! If you haven't already I'd recommend a visit to campus to see our Health and Innovation Centre!

Best wishes,
Holly
