hey, I did maths, english and history at higher so can offer a bit of help. (not sure how much help it will be). For maths you really need to do past paper after past paper, its literally the only way. there is also a website that does practise questions, higher mathematics, that is good for when you run out of PP. For English, getting a good structure for your essay is essential, I did this early on then for most essays it was the same core and slight changes to lend itself better to the essay question given. for poetry its game of committing different techniques and phrases to memory, keep analysing blank copies of the poem until you can get the most out of it. history is unfortunately a memory test. I found 'blurting' on a whiteboard to be one of the best techniques for memorising facts. for the explain questions you should create fun marl answers(get your teacher to mark) for each topic and commit these to memory - its the only predictable part of the source paper and an easy 8 marks to pick up. for essays structure is key, it helps keep your essays concise and your markers will be more inclined to award you marks.. once you get the stucture down I found picking up 18/22 and above was far easier. hope some of that was helpful and if you have any questions lmk!!
Use freehighermaths for maths past papers by topic, also its good to practice on textbook questions as generally the ones further into the exercise are much harder than questions you'll have in the exam.

Hi! I did Maths, English and History last year so i should hopefully be able to help x

For history, literally don’t even think about evaluation until you can secure 17marks. Good thing with history is that the questions are fairly predictable so you should be fine for essays. I suggest making flashcards and blurting! My assignment was literally my saving grace since i got 29/30 on it and it really pulled up my grade. It’s really similar to an essay except you have an extra paragraph but also double the time so you should be able to also fit evaluation in. I got lucky and my assignment doubled up as revision since the assignment was on the Feb Revolution and it was an exam question. For the question paper focus on the key issue questions ( explain and how fully explain) before the narrower description of content ones. Just ask your teacher to mark things and you should be fine!

Maths is honestly past papers over and over again. Some question types are pretty much always in the exam so focus on those (straight line and optimisation). Even if you can’t do part a to a question write a random answer and use it for follow through marks on part B.

English, I’d recommend practicing RUAE since it’s really achievable and the questions are generally the same type every year. Have a solid essay that works for pretty much everything. I did Othello, so my character essay (iago) and my theme essay (betrayal, deception, appearance vs reality ect) was the exact same but worded differently. Also prepare for like an effective opening or conclusion just in case the sqa hates you.
