Topping up BTEC qualification

Hi guys i jus wanted to ask, if i can i top up my BTEC level 3 National Diploma in Applied science to a Extended Diploma.

This is because literally all universities require this for the course I want to study.

You can. Your school / college needs to follow the instructions here to register the top-up.

The specification shows you which modules form part of the Diploma and which form of the Extended Diploma. You just need to do an additional five units (because the Diploma consists of 8 units and the Extended Diploma consists of 13 units).

My school do not want to do it, is there any way I can do it myself? Also i haven’t yet completed it, on the website it says i need to complete it first to top it up.

This would mean i would have to take a gap year to top it up, is there any way i can do it thus year?

BTECs can't be done independently, unfortunately. If your school don't want to do it, are there any nearby schools or colleges which might be more amenable?

The reason you need to complete your existing qualification in order to top it up it just because if you hadn't completed it you wouldn't need to top it up - you'd just keep doing additional units and then claim the Extended Diploma.
