MSc got 69% result in my final degree marks - any way to appeal or increase by 1%?

Hi Everyone,

I've just received 69% for my overall grades for my Master's Degree, and I was wondering whether there's any way to appeal or gain that extra 1%.
My overall average for previous modules has been 70-80%. However, I did poorly in one module because it wasn't particularly interesting, for a total of 50%.
After my research paper this has bumped up my grade to 69.54%!

I am not sure if this happens for people in general. I am in no way complaining about the Merit. Still, a 1% difference is a significant factor in my final classification. I thought it was best to ask if this has happened to anyone before so I know how to proceed with such a complicated and time-consuming process. I don't want to proceed if this will be in vain.

The total grade is based on my final marks. However, the grades have not been issued by the registry; that will apparently only happen closer to the Winter Graduation ceremonies in December. If I were also applying for jobs in the future that requested a specific classification on my final degree (graduate roles), I would not want to be excluded since my field is quite competitive.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Thank you
Short answer based on what you’ve said, no, no realistic chance of an appeal.

Longer answer: You can’t appeal just because you want a higher grade. A successful appeal would need to evidence serious circumstances which affected your studies AND explain satisfactorily why you didn’t raise this at the time.

Have you checked your regulations for the policy on rounding?
