If it was a core module and your first time sitting it, you should be able to resit it next year (I knew a mate of mine who failed an optional module (immunology) in his third year and picked up a new one (Clinical
biochemistry) whilst also doing his dissertation the following year). Reason why was because he had to resit a baby 15 credit module the year before.

You will need to check with the university on their resitting policy, you will likely be capped if it is an undergraduate level (unless you have extenuating circumstances) but it does not mean you will necessarily be removed from the course, you will just have to do an additional year, unless the university allows you to do it alongside your other modules, although a university allowing a student to do more than 120 credits at undergraduate level is unlikely. 🙂

If it was a Masters level, they may have considered it as at Masters, you are expected to do 180 credits full time.

Check with your university’s course leader for the best course of action.
