Oxford Personal statement question

Hi,

I’m applying to History at Oxford but I’ve mentioned a bit of Ancient History because the course I’m applying to at Durham and Exeter is called Ancient History and History. I want a breath of options, hence why I’ve chosen the ancient and normal history (my other options integrate ancient as part of the standard history degree). Does the fact I’ve talked about a topic of Ancient History alongside medieval and modern in my statement, undermine its quality for an Oxford application, given the fact that oxon don’t place a heavy emphasis on it, moreso the ending of the Ancient world?

Oxford has an Ancient and Modern History course as well. Is there a reason you’ve applied for Modern History there rather than for that?

Because the Ancient & Modern misses out medievalism, and I’ve written about that extensively too, which I love!

That’s not accurate; you can take all the many medieval options offered on the single honours history degree. ‘Modern’ just means everything post-classical.
