Tips for English

Does anyone have any tips for English, like how to write any logical paragraphs and analysing quotes and books in depth.

Gcse
My paragraph structure for English essays at GCSE:
Point- overall statement in answer to the question
Moment- describe a moment in the text where you can get evidence for this, to contextualise
Evidence- embed a quotation which evidences the point
Analysis- language techniques, individual words, connotations, imagery etc- try and make 3 points on the analysis roughly
Theme- link the quotation to a theme if you can
Form- link the quotation to the form of the text if you can
Structure- consider how this moment influences the tone of the text in terms of the plot progression- is there rising tension? Is this contrasting calm to a more tense moment? Is there a theme developing more? Is a character developing etc?

Happy to try to answer anything else if you need it 🙂

Thank you, do u have any tips for GCSE edexcel physics

I did do edexcel but for physics the tools id recommend would be: Cognito (they have edexcel so you should be fine) as they have quizzes, lessons, practice exam questions; Isaac physics for practicing calculations; CGP for textbooks and exam style questions; ScienceShorts for recaps, summaries, and practicals; and finally bbc Bitesize. Best of luck 🙂

For the paragraphs: Start with a clear topic sentence that states the main idea of the paragraph. Then add evidence to back up your point. This can be quotes or examples from the text. CRITIAL: don't just present evidence; analyze it. Explain how the evidence supports your idea. This is where a lot of people fail and why their mark is down. End with a sentence that summarizes the main idea of the paragraph like a conclusion.

Practicing writing in exam conditions every week is also critial to get grade 9 in my opinion because it gives you confidence and then you start to really know the framework/ structure and you can apply it to pretty much anything. You can use Tilf website to do that and get the feedback and mark directly. Otherwise tutors, who have been examiners! (very important otherwise they won't know how to mark!) can help to if you can afford it.
