hii, i’m in yr 11 right now, and i do dt, i was just wondering how did you revise for ur dt theory exam. i had a substitute teacher for dt last year, for like half the year, and she could absolutely not teach theory, and now i’m in yr 11 and we’ve still not even started theory content. Im just worried that i’m too far behind, also get that maybe u did a different exam board, so okay if u can’t help.
thank you!

i do aqa exam board so for us we did all the theory content in year 10 and we moved onto the coursework/making the project in year 11 and our teacher went over the stuff we did in year 10 in year 11. And let me tell you our teacher wasn't any better than yours, he barely taught us anything i just had to teach myself we had like aqa revsion guide and i every afternoon i just sat through it and revisied it and i skipped over stiff i won't need to know because you don't need to know everything in dt like the textiles bit i did nothing of that because normally in aq ain the question you get a choice between materials and process in the question so you can juts get away with not knowing anything about textiles. and we also had a powerpoint which was quite useful.

main thing with year 10 is not to over do it everyone thinks you need to revise lots in year 10 as you are starting gcse, don't burn yourself out this early start a little by little, main advice after each lesson come home and re-read you homework this is really good for you brain and keep coming back to your notes and every time you come back you notes are going to be pasted into your long term memory, and also try making flash cards and doing past paper questions, main thing is don't over do it don't worry and you got this, have a great time 🙂

maths in specific i was becoming really sloppy with like in year 9 i used to be a consistent close to full marks, but into year 10 i was just getting 9's but in year 11 mocks it all went down hill, i was i mark into a 8 and this is when i got my wake up call and what i did form here was pure magic, the main thing for maths is past paper question just keep pratcing question in your spare time it so god for your brain to come back and revise and get those topic lists your teachers give and rag rate it and go through the ones you are unsure and try to do lots of exam question to do for them and, try to see where you are dropping marks, and form there your grades will speak for themselves !

my English language isn't the best but i will tell you some tips, what you want to do is past papers for English language, practice the longer questions and bring it into school and get your teacher to mark it they will be happy to mark it and give your personalised feedback which is really good for improve also, learn what exactly each question is asking you like watch YouTube videos this guy ( Mreverythig English he goes through all the questions for AQA) this can help you pick up on more marks. for further maths i recommend CorbettMaths : https://corbettmaths.com/more/further-maths/ , he has lots of practice question on every topic and videos to get help and answers to them, if you need anything else let me know, have a great day 🙂

Thank you for the resources!
One more question I have is for the descriptive writing Q5 on paper 1 did you memorise a story/description structure or just memorise a bunch of good vocab to prepare for it?

vocab i made like a structure of what i need to do in the question, like i need to use like 10 ambitious words across the story and i need to use short sentences , one word sentences, one sentence paragraph, techniques to use in each paragraph. I don't think remembering a story is a effective way to do well. Any more question let me know! have a great rest of your day !
