How much is a suitable amount per week for a first year at Uni. Living in self catered uni halls, we will pay rent etc?

totally depends on the area. London vs up north etc. excluding rent in London I lived off about 125 a week, so for a cheaper area you could probably do like 80/90.

It really depends on you and how much you are going to travel, socialise, cook at home or spend on takeaways, etc. You can get an idea of average rents on uni websites. A weekly food shop should cost around £30-40.
