I would advise against Leicester, it's overcrowded and the city isn't that great.

Hey!

Awesome to hear you're interested in Cardiff  This is as of 2025 entry, and may be subject to change! But, on the Law course page, under entry reqirements, then under "other qualifications from inside the UK", it will tell you that BTEC is accepted if you achieve:

"DDD in a BTEC Extended Diploma in any subject."

When course pages, such as Cardiff's, don't specify courses for entry requirements, its most likely because there are no specific courses you need to have to apply

However, there is mention of courses they don't accept:

"We do not accept Critical Thinking, General Studies, Citizenship Studies, or other similar equivalent subjects. We will accept a combination of BTEC subjects, A-levels, and other qualifications, subject to the course specific grade and subject requirements."

Hope that helps - let me know if I can help any further!

Hi,

You'd be correct - Psychology, Health and Social Care and Photography wouldn't be similar subjects to Critical Thinking etc, from my understanding

Let me know if you had any other questions I can help you with!

Hello!

We are happy to hear that you are applying for Bournemouth University. We do not have any specific subject requirements for that course, which means you are eligible to apply with your qualifications 🙂

I hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please let me know!

How do you know this?

Back when I applied for unis, I attended open days and visited Leicester to see their law school. One of the issues is they don't offer much on-campus accommodation and many students have to share houses in their first year. Another issue was the course was extremely oversubscribed I think they had over 500 students for the law course.

Leicester is also a ghost town with little character compared to other cities in the midlands like Birmingham and Nottingham. There is no nice scenery whatsoever, it all feels grey and gloomy.

I am not too sure when you attended your open day but Leicester currently has lots of accommodation with approximately a four minute walk away from campus!

This is on the large 'City Accommodation' site which features a wide range of room types (studio, ensuite, shared bathroom, townhouse). Additionally, if first years apply for accommodation before 1 September they are guaranteed an offer of University-managed accommodation so there is no requirement to share a house in your first year.

The campus is also situated right next to Victoria Park, a large green open space, where there are often events either ran by students or Leicester council.

Hi @Amy_42018

I hope you are well! At the top of the Law Course Webpage, there is a box that says 'Submit course enquiry'. This will allow you to submit a question about course entry requirements and a member of the team will get back to you with an answer! 😄
