Vet Med/Nursing Question - Please advise

I have applied for Vet Med and Vet Nursing at Bristol Uni and Vet Med at UCLan (plus others but these are my preferred).

I will soon finish my Access to HE Veterinary Science course (Distinctions in every subject so far) and have a GCSE 4 in English and a Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths (equivalent to grade 4/C). I am a mature student and would be 33 when/if I start.

Bristol have just emailed me asking for evidence of a GCSE C in Maths (despite me saying in my application that I have FS L2).

Now I’m worried I won’t get in based on not having a gcse that I sat over ten years ago.

My question: has anyone got into Bristol without GCSE? Or WITH functional skills as an equivalent?

*Please only answer the question.*

Did you do Maths units in your Access course? If they won’t accept Functional Skills, maybe they could accept those units to meet the requirement? They told me (for Medicine):

“To meet the higher numeracy requirement with the A2HE, you will need 6 credits of L3 Maths or Statistics units graded at Merit or higher.”

https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/entry-requirements-qualifications/gcse/ - This page shows what they need. I don’t see Functional Skills listed, unfortunately.

My friend got onto an Animal Science degree at another university and the Maths units on the Access course satisfied the GCSE requirement.

Yeah they’ve offered me a place and said to meet the maths requirements I just need a merit in the statistics unit 😁

Congratulations on being accepted!
Can I ask who you studied your access to higher education with, I'm currently looking to start an access course in veterinary science but don't know which sites are reliable.

Thank you

Emma
