LSE without a single grade 9...

I am a contextual applicant for Philosophy, Politics and Economics, with only 2 grade 8s and 3 grade 7s, rest 6s. (8 in Maths, 7 in English Lang.) Is PPE at LSE too competitive of a course to apply for, even with my secondary school cohort's average GCSE grades, especially considering I am a resitting student?

They say they don't accept resits and they ask for mostly 8s and 9s at GCSE. Knowing that information, if it's your super aspirational choice, there's no harm! As long as your realistic mate and don't get too caught up in it

Do you have any extenuating circumstances? I'm not an admissions tutor so I obviously don't know but to a person who is, looking at admissions objectively, you do not have 'mostly 8s and 9s at GCSEs'. The issue with A level predicted grades is they are quite unreliable - some schools over predict, some under predict and many people will apply with similar a levels predicted. That being said, nobody knows exactly what they look for and only your A levels constitute entry requirements. Applying to any competitive university is always a risk and if you want to give it a shot I wouldn't say your chance of getting in is 0, even if it may be a little lower. But you must remember there's still a high chance they reject you giving the reason your GCSEs aren't competitive enough. They often reject people with flawless grades with the reason 'competition for places was high this year' lol so literally nothing can guarantee you an offer. As long as you work hard in your personal statement, achieving your grades and recognise LSE is an aspirational choice you can apply. Just please have some safe options too because they receive a high number of applications so nobody's chance of getting an offer is high and unfortunately it is not unlikely they reject you based on your GCSEs not meeting their preferences.

If I were you, I'd still apply but i wouldn't get my heart set on it- not that I have even with high grades etc we're all just counting on luck man
