Exeter economics applying

My predicted grades are AAA in maths, economics and history. Exeter requires A*AA - AAA for economics, meaning I am in the boundary required to apply, but because so many high-graded/ smart people apply for Exeter as a backup, is it even worth applying as I may not even get a place? My other options may be : Leeds (AAA), Sheffield (AAB), York (AAB) and perhaps another for AAA. Thanks

One high risk choice is fine - just be prepared for No.

You are at 'applying' stage and can have 5 choices - so don't see an issue

If you like Exeter and York have you looked at Warwick?

FWIW my daughter is at Lancaster is very impressed with the Economics department. She applied to Exeter and they offered her her predicted grades, which were above the standard offer - so it seems to be pretty competitive, as so many Economics courses are

From memory Exeter will drop an offer grade for a good EPQ (as do Bath and a few others), my daughter did hers on Economic Reform in China - are you doing an EPQ?

Warwick requires A*A*A, so out of the question applying-wise, as my grades are AAA. W don't do EPQ's however we do an independent project which is effectively a form of supercurricular, and I did mine in relation to economics and its effect on environment etc; Not sure If this would give me any advantage over other candidates however. Anyone know any good economics uni's at AAA requirement?

I think that you shouldn’t risk it because if you look carefully at university websites, it states the average acceptance grades from last year and most AAA courses actually accept like 90% of people with A*AA or A*A*A so you might not even be considered. Apply carefully! Good luck with your application hnair xx
