Childcare grant

I'm thinking I have to withdraw from my course as I cannot afford the childcare.
The grant we've been offered is £93 a week. So I needed to pay £320 each week to cover childcare not including my daughter's after-school club.
It's means tested but doesn't seem to take in account how much rent is, bills, food! I'm left with £50 a MONTH to feed my children and pay bills.
Nursery are saying I now have to pay for the childcare as it's 12 weeks notice period so I won't be able to go to all my lessons as I'll have to get an extra job on top of my evening job.
Is there anyway if appealing or just showing how many outgoings we have?
I am tearing my hair out trying to make this work!

Hi crijjy,

We wouldn't be able to take your outgoings into account as these are a financial choice, we can only take the household income into account. Has your household income decreased since the 22/23 tax year? We can potentially take this into account.

Thanks,
Calum

Hi Calum,
I will look into it, the system is really outdated as most households are struggling with bills and food hence a cost of living crisis! Definitely not a lifestyle choice to eat basic meals and occasionally put the heating on!
Thanks for your help,
So if household income hasn't gone down then I better withdraw from the course rather than appeal?

Hi crijjy,

If your household income hasn't decreased then we wouldn't be able to do anything to increase your entitlement, an appeal wouldn't be successful as we have acted within our guidelines in awarding the funding based on the household income.

Thanks,
Calum
