Linked in

Hi,

I recently got a message from a recruiter on linked in.

I've always been told to be suspicious but I do not want to miss out on a good opportunity.

Spelling is good and they have stated that they "headhunted me" given my experience in sales and volunteering

I have checked online for the signs indicating a recruiter is fake. But as they have mentioned my personal work experience it does not seem generic. And they haven't asked for any personal information other than my phone number to set up a call.

Any thoughts on how I should respond, I am interested in the opportunity.

Thank you!

Give them a call. If they are genuine, they will talk. However, what they are probably after is your CV which lists previous employers they can tap up asking if they have any jobs to recruit from. As a candidate you are part of the recruiters equation, but ultimately it is the companies that pay their bills so they are the contacts the recruiter is looking for.

You don't have anything to lose. The worst that could happen is you lose 10 minutes of your life to a pointless call that promises everything and delivers nothing. The golden rule is never put your life on hold for a recruiter.
