So, what happens after A-Level results day varies a little bit depending on what you're doing after - most people (including myself) will have applied to university via UCAS and selected a firm choice (the favourite) and insurance choice (a backup, usually lower grade requirements). First thing in the morning on results day, UCAS will be closed while they sort out the admin stuff and then over the course of the morning they will send out emails confirming whether you've got your university place at which choice. If you meet your offer requirements for your firm choice, you'll automatically be accepted onto there although I believe you do have to sign into UCAS and confirm that, as you can also change your mind and pick your insurance or go into clearing to go to a different uni/course (clearing applies both if you've not made your grades for either choice, if you've got higher grades than expected and want to see if you can get into a better uni, or if you've just changed your mind on what you want to do.)

Once you've confirmed your uni place, the uni will usually then send you emails in the next couple of weeks with enrolment tasks (usually things like giving emergency contacts and sending in a picture for your ID card). If you go to your insurance or have missed the deadline for your firm, you'll also have to book accommodation (whereas usually accommodation for your firm choice opens earlier in the year around May).

I can't say for sure but I believe the process would be similar for apprenticeships as well
