Moving from social work degree to teaching

Hi my question is that in order to become a teacher after you have worked in social work for along time how long will it take to become a teacher if to be specific how long and what is the fastes way to become a primary school teacher
Secondly I wanted to ask what subject would my social work degree help me in for further education e.g a level or secondary school for gcse what subject does it interlink with the most and again what is the fastest way to become a teacher in the relevant subject

It's lovely to hear that you are considering a career in teaching. As you already have a degree, in order to qualify as a teacher you would need to take a one year postgraduate teacher training course leading to the award of QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), theses usually also include a PGCE/PGDE which are post graduate qualifications in education. In answer to your question about subjects for secondary and post 16 teaching, a social work degree lends itself very well to subjects like Health and Social Care.
