Latin or German, Which is more difficult to learn as an English speaker?

I’m a philosophy student wanting to expand my horizons, which language would be hardest to learn between these?

What is your language background? If it's a Romance language (esp. Italian), go for Latin. Why not do both. You will need both for Philosophy. English gives you the Germanic base. With Latin you will advance more slowly.

I studied both languages and found Latin harder, as I couldn't communicate with others using it...

Why did you find Latin harder - I am curious as I would like to know your linguistic background. If you come from Spanish, Latin gets easier when it's more advanced - of course ditto Italian. Even "bad Italian students" have said to me "I used to be ace at Latin".

I'm English. I think mainly because I couldn't communicate with others so that 'practice' was missing.

Thank you all for your comments! I’m going to try both, I’ve seen LLPSI for Latin but what would be best for German? Any recommendations?
