Warwick law with ABB?

Hi, i got ABB predicted grades and was wondering if i should apply to warwick law + socio BA . Entry requirements are AAB and ucas entry data says only 50% of ABB students have gotten accepted. Im also not a contextual student. Should i go for it?

What those stats don't tell you is what proportion of candidates who applied with ABB predicted actually received offers. It could be that those who were accepted with ABB actually had AAB predicted (and received offers in that basis), but just missed those offer grades.

Despite that, there's nothing wrong with applying to one or two "aspirational" courses/unis, as long as the majority are more realistic. So go for it!

Thanks for the reply. All my 5 choices are kinda aspirational tbh because i think i could probably get into 'realistic' lower grade ones in clearing. Is this a good plan?

Do u know what russel group/top unis i have a chance in getting an offer from with ABB, and which ones put emphasis on personal statement instead of mainly grades? Thanks.

Although you may be right in saying that you could "probably get into 'realistic' lower grade ones in clearing", there's obviously a risk that those unis won't be in Clearing next year for whatever reason. You'll also be at the back of the queue for accomodation. So, although this strategy might be sound, it can also back-fire. As long as that's a risk you're happy with, then it's fine.

I don't, I'm afraid. I've been to open days where, in the general (not subject-specific) talk they've said "we don't look at personal statements, because they're often written primary by teachers / parents, so to use them would place students without strong support around them at a disadvantage." But I've never heard them say the reverse (i.e. they weigh them more heavily than predicted grades). I'm sure such unis exist - but I've not come across them.

Hi! I am applying too with similar grades, I have A*BB predicted and I am a contextual student, do you think I have a chance?😭

At A*BB predicted against an AAB contextual requirement, I'd say you have a reasonable chance of receiving an offer.

If I was working in Warwick admissions, I'd wait until the equal consideration deadline, and then decide whether or not I had the capacity to make any more offers. If I did, one of the first groups of applicants I'd make those additional offers to would be contextual candidates short by one grade, but with a higher than required grade in a different subject.

Thank you so much! And when does equal consideration end usually?

It moves around each year, but for those applying in this UCAS cycle it's 29 January 2025. All applications received by 18:00 (UK time) on that date must be considered equally. See Key dates and the application journey on the UCAS web site for confirmation.
