How do i get a job at a pub?

hey guys so basically right now im in a gap year before uni and i have decided to look for a part time job. i started truly looking around late august and ive been having little success with retail and restaurants etc. i decided then to go for pubs and tailor my cvs to pubs, and i had SOME successes. ive been applying online like directly at the careers page for chains like wetherspoon, mitchells and butlers etc. i had 2 interviews so far though both unsuccessful, however the last interview the manager told me that i was a strong candidate and that my details would be put into a talent bank but im not sure that would help. im just working, how exactly do i succeed when it comes to applying to jobs or to interviews. the last interview was good because it was a nice chatty comfortable environment and i feel like im receptive to the energies of people so when the manager is chatty and comfortable that makes me more comfortable too. but when it comes to applying, what do i need to put in my cv, what do i need to mention to make them wanna hire me? i dont have any previous pub or bar experience but i do have some voluntary hospitality from school volunteering like as a reading ambassador and taking care of ppl in an elderly care home near my school. when it comes to pubs and why i wanna work there i say the opportunities it gives me, plus i wanna be a part of service that i want to help people and accommodate to people because it gives me a sense of satisfaction and purpose and also its this idea of giving back to a community, because pubs and such environments are a big cultural, community and social center here and i wanna be a part of that community and make people smile and make their day, should i say more? is what im saying wrong? is it the experience bit thats dragging me down? do i need to go in person and ask for the manager? also it just feels like because pubs and honestly every single job ever just have tons of applicants i just get this feeling like, how the hell am i supposed to win? how can i beat 10,20,30,50 however many people? i dont even know how it works is it just one person that gets chosen, 2, 5? idk im waffling now
