Architecture to Civil Engineering

Hi, if anyone can help I have a 2.1 degree in Architecture and recently graduated. I do not want to continue with Architecture as I value the technical aspects of design more. I fell in love with the idea of becoming a structural engineer and would like to pursue this further. I have spoken to the ICE and various others about my path, but I am unsure about doing a degree apprenticeship, part-time degree, or HNC/HND in civil engineering. I feel like it's so hard getting any help regarding my situation but could anyone point me in the right direction or any advice I would be grateful. To note I have A levels in Chemistry, German, and Art but I didn't perform well I have strong GCSEs and relevant work experience on my CV. I cannot do a masters either since my course didn't have the relevant maths modules in Engineering and would pose some issues in terms of wanting to be CEng qualified. So the options I've listed are the only ones. I am also aware of Architectural Technology and other related courses I am not interested in those.

Not an engineer so I might be mistaken about some points - I also did architecture (but I did consider switching to engineering at one point). For civil/structural engineering specifically, as you didn't do Maths A-level, I think the apprenticeship route is your only option. Degree apprenticeship (L6) would probably be better as looking at a few 'Principal'/'Senior' level engineer job postings they all require minimum of a Bachelors in engineering so if you get that sorted out you won't be limited later on down the line. Balfour Beatty has applications open now for civil engineering degree apprenticeships.

If you're willing to consider engineering disciplines other than civil/structural, you could do a 1 year (or 2 year if part time) Masters and would progress you towards CEng status, eg MSc Net Zero Building Services Engineering

Ah thank you for your reply ! I have started my application for the Balfour Beatty degree apprenticeship and I will look into this Net Zero Buildings Services Engineering as well ! If you don't mind me asking did you continue with Architecture?

I'd just like to point out that building services engineering is a type or subdiscipline within mechanical engineering, based heavily on thermofluids, rather than civil or structural engineering.
