Russel group degree apprenticeships

Does anyone have a list or spreadsheet of degree apprenticeship roles that are open or soon to open where you attend a Russell group uni? I’m especially looking for tech and finance but I don’t mind engineering. Or a really good list or spreadsheet of degree apprenticeships in general?

Do you have any advice on how to start looking for degree apprenticeships? I’m looking to do something in the pharmaceutical/laboratory sciences industry if that makes any difference. I’ve looked on GSK and Pfizer websites but can’t see any yet. I would prefer one that’s linked to a Russel group uni but it doesn’t make a massive difference.

Hi I think it’s good to look at unis who offer degree apprenticeships straight from their website such as Queen Mary’s, Exeter, Birmingham etc. You should also check the GOV.uk website for some. When I ran out of resources searching for software engineering degree apprenticeships chatGPT actually helped a lot. You can ask for degree apprenticeships in the fields you want and can specify ones linked to Russell group universities.

CogentSkills manage apprenticeships for a lot of pharma companies, I’ve seen Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and JnJ on there. They advertise vacancies on their own site and it’s worth monitoring.

Also, I can guarantee all of those employers have far better access to research facilities and software for apprentices than any Russell group uni provide to undergrads.

For apprenticeships, the quality of the employer is far more important than the quality of the undergraduate degree. Just make sure it’s accredited to whatever your career goals need, like CEng for example.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have another question. Is there anything you recommend I do now to prepare while I’m waiting for the apprenticeships to be released?? I have a CV but that’s about it and I’d like to be as ahead of the game as possible now so it’s easier for me when it comes to actually applying.

Experience, knowledge, and skills look great on paper, but don’t mean anything in interviews and assessment days if you can’t convey them effectively.

Learn the value of your unique experience, and how to evidence likelihood of success in the specific roles you’re applying for.

For example. If you’re asked what your greatest weakness is, don’t tell them you’re a perfectionist.… tell them the truth, something personal and unique to your own journey, but then also evidence how you recognised and took action to overcome your shortcomings. This also demonstrates initiative in self development and perseverance in overcoming problems.

Your cv shouldn’t read like it’s meant to be a checklist, it should flow and tell the story of how the specific role you’re applying for is the next natural step in your career/development.
