Crush at work

Hi all,
I am 21 and started placement working at a bank. I have a crush on this guy at work who is 27. He’s not married but I’m not sure if he’s single. He’s very shy, cute, nice and very helpful when I don’t understand things. I don’t know how to tell him that I have a crush and I’m even wondering if I should? Maybe he’s just a nice guy or maybe he’s interested? I want to find ways to hang out and just be normal but I’m scared that my work colleagues will find out and embarrass us both. I don’t want to mess up at work as they might be offering me a permanent contract so I want to be professional but along with that I really like this guy. What should I do?

Update: we went on walk today at lunch. It was nice but we mostly talked about work. Occasionally we talked about other things like hobbies and our background but it wasn’t too much. He’s quite gentlemanly making sure he was walking on the roadside all those type of things and I think he’s quite cute. How should I move things forward? Obviously slowly but I don’t want him to get the hint that I’m not interested or closed off.
