HELP! I got rejected by DofE bronze, PLEASE READ AND GIVE ME ADVICE!

So, at my school, there was a DofE bronze expedition being offered, you had to sign up for the letter and register on the letter, plus you had to pay 130 pounds, I gave in the letter late and I got rejected by the teacher hosting it, I couldn't find the letter, and it stressed me out for a long time, I couldn't sleep, nor eat, are there any alternatives? Or will I able to do DofE again? My friends said that it was pointless to go since its bronze, but my parents are pushing me to go, every successful person in my family has gone, my parents are pushing me in, and I'm being pulled away by my friends, I dont know what to do. The expedition is in March, and I really want to go so I can get the certificate... Please help me and thank you 🙏

If your teacher won’t accept your late entry there is not a lot you can do about it. You could ask your parents to write a letter on your behalf but there is no guarantee it will work. If you only want it for the certificate I think you probably have better things to do with your time, but if it’s about the general experience because all of your family have done it, could you not suggest a similar trip with your family. If they enjoy those kind of experiences why not suggest that you organise one together. You can use what you learn from the expedition on your PS or uni application in exactly the same way as a bronze award, and you could even turn it to your advantage. You will have programmed and organised the trip yourself rather than relying on a teacher to do it for you.

Doing or not doing a D of E award is not going to effect your success in life and certainly not worth losing any sleep over.Your parents are being ridiculous but might be a bit cross because you did not get yourself organised.
What do you hope to do in the future with your life?

I hope to become a doctor or a lawyer in life!

In which case the DofE awards will not be winning you any brownie points and you’d be better joining the St. John’s ambulance or spending time at a nursing home on a regular basis to strength your application.

I believe you can do the silver DofE without the Bronze one, so why not just do that? Or do something else thats giving back to the community, or join Scouts/Explorers because scouting is basically just DofE in a club

i did DofE many many years ago, trained as a doctor and look after medical students in my role at the university. Broad experience and achievement beyond medicine/healthcare and science is very desirable and tends to make better doctors. In fact I think I was asked about it at interview.

In fairness, I couldn't do DofE because I' disabled, so I would never know.....
