Uber eats/deliveroo job as a student

I'm a mature student, who is self teaching and will be applying to uni this year. I need to save around £2k in order to sit my A Level exams and practicals privately, but I've been struggling to find a part-time job(~16-20 hours). I've already saved £1k from a previous job, so I've been considering investing in a bike and working as an uber eats/deliveroo driver. I've heard that the pay is pretty bad and that it's quite an unstable job, but I'm running out of options and time. It's a bit of a gamble since the money I spend on a bike could go towards my exams. My other concern is getting my bike stolen. Thoughts?
If you don't already have a bike I'd probably say try and look for other jobs where you aren't having to "buy in" to do it. Call centres are almost always hiring and usually accept most people - they have a very high turnover rate as a result (also because the work is usually terrible) but it's a good way to get something even temporarily.

Also see if you can sign up with any temp agencies that source jobs in your area, sometimes they can find you some pretty good stuff that you wouldn't otherwise have come across. Since these are temp roles as well it's usually easy to leave if you need to focus on studies more, and sometimes they pay weekly which may be more convenient.

If you do go for the deliveroo thing I would not suggest buying a very expensive bike - just get something cheap and used, you don't need a top of the line racing bike you just need to get from point A to point B. That way at least it's not as huge a loss if it does get damaged or stolen or something.

Sounds good, I'll have a look. Thank you very much
