The Student Room Group

Home fee status if I stay in the UK for 3 years do I pay £9250 or international fees?

Hello everyone!

I'm new to thestudentroom but just wanted some advice.

I moved to the UK as a dependent on a 3yr skilled worker visa two months ago. I've just started Year 11 last month. Me and my parents are nonUK and nonEU/EEA passport holders.

At this rate I'd be (fingers crossed) starting university in 2027. At that point I'd have lived in the uk for 3 years. Me and my parents would only get ILR 2 years later in 2029.

I understand that I wouldn't be eligible for student finance from 2027 but:

Would I be allowed to pay the £9,250 per year tuition fees or would I come under the international student fees bracket where unis can charge whatever they want?

Hope someone can answer this question.

Thank you!

Hi there,

The Tuition Fee status is set by the university you apply to. It's up to them if you're considered home/international.

Thanks,
Ross
