EDF Energy graduate schemes 2025

Hello everyone, has anyone recently completed the EDF pre-recorded video interview for the Science and Engineering Graduate Programme? If so, could you kindly share the questions you were asked during the interview?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!

I completed it on tuesday, however you're my competiton sooooooo 😆 but it's really not hard some of the questions are repetitive but not the same, the last question isn't a proper question its whether you have the right to work in the UK so there's only 5 in total and you are allowed multiple retakes. Obviously one of them is the standard why EDF etc and the rest are scenario based (as stated before you do the video) so basically dealing with change.

Oh yeh it's not 'timed' like other video assessments where you have 2 minutes and it automatically starts filming and you only have one shot. However your total time is recorded including filming so i'm guessing anything above 10 minutes per video will seem as if you're taking too long. They reccomend only spending 2 minutes preparing but naturally you will go over.
I'm at a loss for words to express how grateful I am for your comment ❤. You're an angel. Thank you so much.I wish you to progress to the next stage, if it hasn't been decided yet for your case.

I have just one last question, if you don't mind. In the scenario-based questions, do they solely focus on adapting to change, or do some also cover interacting with others and delivering results through proactivity, organisation, and ownership, as mentioned on EDF's video interview website?

Thanks in advance

Haha i wouldn't go that far but thank you! Usually I end up saying all the questions ahaaha unfortunately I failed to secure a grad job in my final year (just graduated), so I'm trying to be more hardcore now 😆

and yes it's exactly as you said focussing on interacting with others etc all that jargon lol. There's nothing tricky, just jot down any ideas that come in your head and say them, and try to fill the time too, you'll think of stuff as you are filming too. It's really just bollocks such as encountering a change midway, collaboration reaching a consensus etc all of that is generic stuff is asked.

Do prepare for the why do you want to work for EDF, what attracted you etc as there's a lot to talk about and if you are ill-prepared your answer will be too basic and i'm a blabber mouth so it's easy for me to fill the 3 minutes and not have time but I know others might struggle.

Good Luck in the video interview and hopefully we progress to the assessment centre. We might not be too much in competition maybe haha depending on what we've studied. I'm more interested in the science stuff as that's my degree.

Hahahahh 😄you don't need to worry about the competition, as i applied for the mechanical engineering program. So feel free to tell me anything.
I'm almost in the same boat as you, I have already graduated and was rejected in a lot of graduate schemes, so I'm trying to give everything to secure this one.

I appreciate all your advice!I’ll definitely keep those generic topics in mind and try to make sure my answers aren’t too basic. The "why EDF" question is one I’ll put some extra focus on as well. Thanks again for the tips! Best of luck to both of us, hopefully we’ll both be heading to the assessment center soon.

yeah I didn't apply to mech eng but the physics one ahahah you seem nice so idm dming it you on here, if you haven't done it already but it's not difficult as I said before. It's just hard to be exactly what they're looking for or knowing what they're looking for with questions like that.

I hope i've done enough as I had plenty to talk about and filled the time but I'm worried I might have come off too robotic thats my main fear, it's just the questions were not personal it's all scenario minus the why edf one.

I've applied to many jobs and grad schemes too, i'm not passing the final hurdle in most cases which sucks as I never struggled when applying for placements and internships but I guess they're more picky for grad roles naturally. I assume we're applying to some similar stuff haha.

Honestly, I get the same vibe that you're a really nice person 😅. I can’t quite explain it though!

I totally get what you mean,scenario-based questions can be hard to answer without sounding too robotic. It sounds like you did really well, though, especially since you had plenty to talk about, which is definitely a challenge for me! That’s why I’m trying to get an idea of the exact questions (when possible) beforehand so I can prepare longer answers. Honestly, making it to the final stages is impressive, and I really respect that. It’s definitely tougher than placements, but fingers crossed we both break through soon!

By the way, I haven’t done my interview yet, so I’d be really happy if you could DM me! For some reason, I’m not able to send you a private message, otherwise I would have. Following you now!

I sent a private message, hope it's of use. I didn't save the questions but I remember them enough based on my notes. Please don't share it as we don't want more competition ahahah fight the urge to not help 😆

I'd aim to get it done today or sunday as they have closed all new applications, I don't think it affects current applications i assume you recieved that email communication anyway.

Legennnddd! Thanks for the message, I really appreciate it. Don’t worry, I completely understand the competition aspect—I'll keep everything to myself. 😊 I did get that email too, so hopefully, everything goes smoothly. Let’s get this done!

One last question: are the questions based on long scenario stories or just 2-3 line questions, as mentioned privately?

Thanks!

nah there's no long scenario story, each question has less than 50 words it's very generic.

Have you had any feedback yet? Ive had an email saying they are reviewing my video interview but thats it. Im not competition as ive applied for the human factors scheme
I've done the Video Interview, has anybody applied previously? Just wondering how competitive it is and what the ACs are like

I've applied for the physics one, when you say they are reviewing your video interview did you get an email like this:

We just wanted to give you an update on the progress of your application and to thank you for the time you have invested in the process so far. Due to the high volume of applications we have received for this role, we are currently reviewing them and will let you know the outcome of this as soon as possible.......

But yeh other than that, I've heard nothing I believe now it's just the waiting game for them to review all applications and decide who to take through to the assessment centre. I can't speak for you but you can go check, they have closed new applications for my role physics engineer. Let us know (everyone) when and if you hear anything 🙂

which role did you apply for because it varies? Also I assume it's going to be competitive regardless with the state of the economy as for example some roles such as physics engineer closed early and I assume others have because they have recieved enough applications.

As for the AC i've done them before but not the EDF one, i can write more about it if you want but you can just google. You essentially turn up to a location with other candidates (in person or online however its more likely to be inperson now), complete group tasks, presentations maybe an interview and you'll be assessed on all that and then they'll decide who they want to hire.

I recieved that and another one. Second

Thanks for taking the time to complete the video interview as part of the recruitment process for the Human Factors Graduate Programme vacancy with EDF.
We will now review your interview and get back to you regarding next steps as soon as possible.

They closed the Human factors role early also. I think if you get the oppertunity to do a video interview then youve already done extremly well. I heard upto 80% of candidates are not taken to video interview.

In the assesment centers we arnt in competition they may hire everyone that reaches that point...im hoping I get that oppertunity!

Where did you hear the 80% thing? I believe they take all candidates to video interview stage as long as you meet the requirements in terms of education and sponsorship. If anything they will reject the majority from the video interviews!

Not in the graduate scheme. They use your apitude tests to ensure that you have the key skills and personality traits that they are looking for. A lot of people are screened out at the aptitude test stage.
