UCL Step Requirements

The wording on the UCL website is confusing ( to me at least ) and im not sure if i would receive a step requirement. I am a contextual student and have achieved A*A*A in Maths, Further Maths and Economics. I am looking to apply to Bsc Maths at UCL

Do you read it as if you get an A in further maths you are required to get a 2 in step?

An A in either maths or FM would trigger that condition, imo.

Would you be at a disadvantage if you didn't take STEP? Would it reduce your chances of admission if you met the requirements where it isn't a necessity?

If you meet the requirements via A-levels (A*A*A with A*A* in Mathematics and Further Mathematics) then there doesn't appear to be a STEP requirement.
