I did the wrong alevels help.

So i am currently doing bio, chem and maths a levels(year 12) initially wanting to do medicine. But now I feel like the lack of work/life balance is not worth it and also I somehow prefer maths over biology now. Now,I am seriously looking more into tech degrees and I know a lot of them only need maths a level but with my set of a levels idk if i will be able to get onto them. I had always wanted to CS a level (got a grade 9 at gcse) but just had to drop it due to timetabling issues as a 4th a level(clashes with chem). I checked to see if I could do bio, CS and math but now CS class is full. :frown:

1.

Is there anyone who got onto CS degrees without CS a level who could give me some advice?

2.

What are my chances of getting in?

3.

how do I get a recommendation letter for cs if I don't have cs teacher?

4.

How difficult would it be without cs alevel?

A-level computer science isn't a requirement for any CS degree, and you have maths, so I imagine you'd be fine. You may struggle to get into places like Oxford or Cambridge without physics, but you'd have to check their entry requirements.
You only need Maths. Don’t stress, just smash those grades.

should I maybe drop bio for physics? but I am not that interested in physics? Can't do further maths(it's too late to join)

You should be fine with bio. If you're not interested in physics then definitely do not take it.

Physics isn't required or preferred, the previous assertion it's somehow preferred for Cambridge or Oxford is incorrect. That said a lack of FM might be a barrier for Oxbridge (and Imperial), but for most CS courses you just need maths and so you are fine

It wasn't really an assertion (hence I told them to check the entry requirements), but yeah, I checked after and you don't need physics.

thanks guys.If I do end up doing CS,i am just gonna avoid Oxbridge and Imperial and do lots of work experience and coding projects. Will also help me see if I am committed to the degree. Hopefully, will be able to smash those grades.Kinda scared for bio tho.
