HMRC Compliance Caseworker 376R

Hi all.

I am in the process of my interview for the caseworker role. In the interview pack it mentions the in tray assessment however I have not been sent any in tray assessment information.

Anyone know why I've not received it and when I need to do the in tray.

I went to their MS teams information session and they said that only those who pass the pre-recorded interview will move on to do the in-tray exercise so you don’t need to worry about it for now from what I know

Not really, nothing I remember that is important, strength question you get 2mins to answer and behavioural you get 4 minutes I believe. They said if you pass the interview, the in tray will likely be conducted over MS teams live, so sounds like a timed in tray exercise to me. If you are successful you will be expected to be given a start date in 2025

Read the person specification and the behaviours they are testing you on in the interview carefully in the vacancy advert. There will be 3 strength questions in which they just want your raw, unfiltered answer so don't really need to prepare for them. As for the behavioural questions, they will give you one question per behaviour they are marking you on, the behaviours are: "communicating and influencing" and "making effective decisions". Think of one or two answers that may come up in the interview for these behaviours and plan out your answer in STAR format. As long as you have a planned answer for each behavioural to refer to as a baseline answer during the interview you should be okay, even if the question is more specific and different from what you planned, you can just tweak your baseline answer as you go along during the interview. You do get 60 secs thinking time before the recording starts for behavioural questions. Feel free to DM me if you have any other queries, I'll try my best to help as I'm currently preparing for the interview myself
