need help with mental and revising

hi so,

im currently doing gcses this year and my mental isnt the greatest, i feel like i should be dead so i dont really feel like revising like when people ask me the question where i see myself in the future i dont see anything as i feel like i should be dead, my relationship with my mother isnt the greatest and she normally shouts and complains that i dont revise and this doesnt help with me wanting to do it

i believe i have adhd and i struggle to revise like i get distracted easily and i dont know what to do, from year 7-10 i havent payed attention so i dont know what to do as ive forgotten about everything i want to fix myself up and try be able to achieve good grades but i dont know where to start and what to do and im really unmotivated.

Id suggest speaking to someone at your school about this- if you’re able to.
They can help you with structuring studying if you’re not motivated and can look into whether you might have adhd. They can also put support in place for you around mental health which hopefully will help you get through this 🙂

You're mental health is so much more important that revision or grades - make sure you look after yourself. If you don't have anyone to speak to that you know, maybe you could ask someone to pay for psychologist sessions (expensive but could be beneficial) or call counselling services like Childline; I heard they are quite good. GCSEs aren't the end of the world either. Also, speak to your school about exam arrangements as they might help massively.

Ideas of who to speak to: friends, family members, teachers, head of year, school wellbeing teacher, schools senco etc
If you can't talk about it in person then maybe send them an email
If you really feel you're not ready to get others involved (which I urge you to do as they can help and support you) then maybe try services like kooth so you can get some support and counselling anonymously.

Hi There

We hear that you are currently preparing for your GCSEs but you are finding revising difficult. We encourage you to look at this Revising with ADHD post which gives some great tips and advice. It sounds like you want to get good grades but you just need a little bit of support and that is what it is there for. We encourage you to speak to someone who you trust at school to help you to balance your studies with how you are feeling right now 🙂

Often talking about how we are feeling can help us to navigate these emotions. If this isn’t something that you feel able to do with someone in your life then we empower you to reach out to some of the really great services that have already been listed in this thread. Some of these services have a Text Service too so if you would be more comfortable messaging to begin with then that is completely fine 📲

You have done really well to use this space to be honest about how you are feeling. If you are feeling like suicide is an option right now then you can call Hopeline247 on 0800 068 4141 or Text us on 88247 to speak with a trained Suicide Prevention Adviser who will be more than happy to help 💟
