The majority of applicants don’t have awarded grades when they apply. Your referee is asked to provide predictions for anything that is pending.

Majority AL results are released mid-August and unis receive your grades automatically a week or so before you.

If it’s AL or international AL then the exam boards convey them to UCAS who pass them on to your uni choices.

If for any reason this doesn’t happen, your unis will usually email you on results day to ask for them. (Their verification process may vary, but it could for example be an email from your school or exam centre. )
